From Couch to 5K: Ignition gets running!

Your feet hit the pavement in a steady rhythm, the sound of your shoes pounding the ground echoing in time with the beating of your heart. With every stride, the world around you fades away – it’s just you, the road and a pulse of energy surging through your body. The cool air fills your lungs, fuelling your drive as your legs move faster, pushing the limits of what you thought possible. In these moments, you’re alive, free and unstoppable, chasing not just a finish line but something deeper within yourself.

Sounds good, hey? Mental health starts with physical health – how’s your mind supposed to be fit and healthy if the body powering it isn’t? That’s why Ignition launched a Couch to 5K running initiative in October – which is Mental Health Awareness month.

We know how important it is for our people to look after themselves so that they perform at their best, at work and in their personal lives. Our Employee Experience team is dedicated to making Ignition a great place to work, and a key part of that is our Wellness Programme, run by wellness specialist Nicole Tribelhorn.

“Running isn’t just about fitness – it’s about finding clarity, strength and resilience within yourself. Each step on that pavement is a step toward mental wellness. Through our Couch to 5K initiative, we’re encouraging everyone at Ignition to take that first stride, no matter where they’re starting from. Because when we care for our bodies, our minds benefit too, creating balance in every aspect of life. Throughout October, we made sure to celebrate Mental Health Awareness by putting our wellness front and centre,” says Nicole.

Ignition’s Wellness Programme includes health screenings, mental health initiatives and events making up a holistic approach to every Ignitioner’s personal health.
