Nicole Tribelhorn talks about how Ignition Group prioritises both mental and physical health, creating a supportive environment where employees can thrive, stay motivated and reach their full potential, which also benefits the business.
It’s a proven fact that mental and physical health are vital for a thriving workplace, both for the employee as well as the business as a whole. And yet while physical well-being is often championed at a corporate level, mental health is frequently left to the individual to sort out. But at Ignition Group, we know that well-being must be holistic – people don’t run purely on physical well-being and neither does a company. We also know that when employees feel valued, they are more motivated and productive. By placing emphasis on employee wellness, we reduce absenteeism and foster an environment where individuals can thrive and realise their full potential.
Mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression and stress, have become increasingly common as work-life boundaries blur. Since Covid-19 arrived, work stress and burnout have both increased globally, and yet these issues often go unspoken due to stigma, despite the fact that they can significantly affect performance and overall well-being. At Ignition Group, we aim to address mental health openly through campaigns and a free telephonic counselling line available at any time. By creating a supportive environment, we encourage employees to seek help without fear of judgement, mitigating the impact of mental health issues and fostering a culture of trust.
As the Events and Wellness Specialist at Ignition Group, I find this work incredibly rewarding. This role aligns perfectly with my passion for cultivating a positive, supportive atmosphere that prioritises both mental and physical health. I enjoy integrating wellness into our workplace culture and encouraging employees to adopt small changes for healthier lifestyles, which I believe is crucial for overall success and satisfaction.
One of the most fulfilling parts of my job is designing and implementing programmes that promote both physical and mental well-being. From organising fitness challenges and wellness screenings to providing beauty and self-care services at work, along with an on-site concierge for general errands to ensure employees have more time on their off days to do the things they love, each initiative contributes to a healthier, more engaged workforce.
One aspect of our wellness programme is screenings for early prevention and early action of major health risks, including breast cancer. We do this because breast cancer is exponentially more treatable if caught early, and by offering this screening at work we make it easier for every woman in the company to be screened, which increases the likelihood that they get screened at all.
These activities not only enhance health but also strengthen team dynamics and boost job satisfaction. In fact, a Forbes study said that 87% of employees actually consider health and wellness offerings when choosing an employer.
Witnessing the positive effects of these programmes on my colleagues reinforces my commitment to this role. Encouraging a balance between work and wellness is about cultivating a culture where employees feel supported and empowered to take care of themselves. This holistic approach can lead to increased creativity, improved problem-solving and a more collaborative atmosphere. An Aflac study in 2019 discovered that approximately 70% of employees who were involved in a wellness programme at work experienced higher job satisfaction than those who hadn’t signed up.
At Ignition Group, we are dedicated to enhancing the workplace in all aspects, helping employees reach their full potential in every area of their lives. That healthy employees are happy employees is not just something I believe but rather is a fact proven time and again.
