The business units within the Ignition Group ecosystem cover the mobile telecommunication industry, banking and financial services, digital marketplaces, as well as the core Ignition offering of customer experience (CX) and Global Business Solutions.

Ignition’s e-commerce unit is made up of three major components: Gumtree South African, Best Internet and Mobile Store.
Gumtree South Africa is a key part of Ignition Group’s vision. While Gumtree is South Africa’s best known online marketplace, it has evolved into far more than that: it is now a platform that builds businesses, entrepreneurs and brands, and connects them with customers to create value and actively grow the digital economy. How? Through features like Gumtree Stores – free dedicated online storefronts that allowing businesses or high-volume sellers to list and manage multiple items conveniently in one place. They function as virtual shops within the Gumtree marketplace, enhancing visibility, professionalism and trust.
Best Internet and Mobile Store are premier consumer platforms dedicated to helping consumers effortlessly find the ideal internet and mobile plans for their needs. By conveniently aggregating the latest deals from all major service providers, these websites simplify the comparison and application processes.

Enable Connectivity

Ignition Group has been playing in the telco business for over 20 years. We have used this experience to create businesses that can positively impact South Africans in their daily lives.

In MVN-X, Ignition has the largest mobile virtual network enabler in South Africa, which enables an overwhelming majority of the Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) in the country. These MVNOs are frequently used by major South African retailers and other businesses to reward their customers, giving them connectivity that is powered by MVN-X.

Ignition Group’s two retail telco operators, uConnect and me&you mobile, lead the way in both value and the rollout of eSIMs to the South African public.

uConnect offers South Africa’s first rewards SIM, which gives users free data and airtime just for doing everyday things like shopping and watching adverts. This allows users to stay connected and engaged in the economy, but it also frees up their money to spend elsewhere.

The web-based economy has made access to digital products increasingly easy, but those products still need to be affordable. It’s a fact that the majority of South Africans can’t afford insurance cover, life or non-life, but those that can’t afford it are often the ones that need it the most.
Ignition Financial Services has developed a solution to this dilemma. By partnering with uConnect, IFS is able to offer both airtime and funeral cover for the price of the airtime.
By leveraging its position in the Ignition ecosystem, IFS is able to create unique products that no other company can create, products that benefit its customers. IFS works with Ignition’s telecommunications, lifestyle and other units to build value and ultimately make a real difference.
Spot Money is another of Ignition’s financial services companies. A modern and complete money app, Spot offers free comprehensive banking services to South Africans. Spot and uConnect work together to reward their customers with free airtime as well, again increasing access to connectivity. Spot customers are also presented with IFS products to reduce their vulnerability to life’s unforeseen occurrences.

The legacy business of Ignition Group, Ignition CX is a leading customer experience company with a global presence. It focuses on customer acquisition, customer experience management and omnichannel engagement, representing some of the biggest brands in the world. Ignition CX itself is made up of a number of moving parts in addition to its CX services, including online comparison marketplaces, value-add products and services, and in-house platforms powered by AI that increase customer engagement and partner revenue.
Ignition’s online marketplaces, Gumtree SA, Best Internet and Mobile Store, all integrate effectively into the CX business. Ignition CX recognised that bespoke AI-based platforms would present significant value to its customers. Our development team was tasked with developed multiple platform products that could make use of the vast amount of data at Ignition’s disposal and turn it into insight and action.
EngAIge is Ignition’s AI-based intelligent and intuitive customer engagement platform that allows its clients to achieve better relationships with their customers through engaging campaigns. With it, they can deliver the right message in the right way at the right time.

pAIment is an all-in-one solution for seamless, secure and efficient payment processing. As useful for small businesses as it is for large enterprises, it is designed to simplify transactions and enhance financial management.

These platforms are designed to improve the relationship between businesses and customers, benefitting both and making the digital economy work for both.

MVN-X, Ignition’s mobile virtual network enabler, plays an important role in building customer relationships, in getting to know customers and in rewarding them. Some of South Africa’s biggest brands use MVN-X to create and operate their own mobile networks, which also gives them access to customer data while rewarding their customers for their loyalty.
